Dr. Marietta Ritchie
R.N., B.Sc.N., M.Sc.N., M.A. (Psych), Ph.D. (Psych)
I was born in Europe, educated in North American, and work and maintain homes on both continents. My home town is Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, a picturesque country nestled in the heart of Europe, caught in the embrace of Italy, Hungary, Austria, and Croatia. My private practice office is located in Koper, Slovenia.
As a psychotherapist, I have helped people in Canada, the USA, and Slovenia. My experience runs the spectrum from hands-on patient care to supervision, teaching administration, management, and most recent psychotherapy. I supervised at Riverview hospital, taught at School of Nursing (Vancouver General Hospital), was Director of In-Service Education at Queens Park Hospital, and held progressively more responsible positions as Director of Nursing at Mission Memorial Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital. During my nursing experience I realized that Psychology and Nursing are an ideal partnership. Consequently, I enrolled at the American Fielding Graduate University in California, earning my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, and finally my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a specialty in clinical, organizational, and health psychology.
In my management and consulting jobs my focus has been to resolve issues for staff and patients alike; dealing with all aspects of high-quality patient care and staff morale, burnout, conflict resolution, and decision making. As a psychotherapist, I have a history of helping individuals and families achieve significant therapeutic benefits, from building meaningful relationships to successfully coping with life's challenges.
In addition, I provide therapeutic services to clients and families who have physical disabilities or are recovering from illness or injury involving disfigurement. Furthermore, I teach, coach, consult and counsel individuals relative to their personal and career choices, job performance, personal and professional empowerment, development, and growth.
Today my objective is to share my knowledge with individuals suffering physical or emotional distress and to help them restore and improve their functioning level and lifestyle.
